Rose. Bud. Thorn

I want to write this article because I want to be held accountable for a project that I really want to accomplish in the next few months. The idea has been marinating in my head for the past year, and I’ve even done a couple of sketches!

The Idea:

Designing a diary style app using the rose.bud.thorn template to help people of all ages with mental health issues.

The background:

Rose bud thorn is a dinner table game that I learned about through some friends around a year ago. It’s a really simple exercise in which everyone goes around and tells the table three things about their day.

rose: something good that happened today

bud: something you are looking forward to

thorn: something bad that happened today

I’ve found that writing down my thoughts daily can be a really helpful way of organizing my feelings and also reflecting on my day or the past month. I’m not a certified therapist, but I have personally found that writing down my thoughts really helps me especially during times when I feel like I am struggling. I’ve also found that having a routine really helps me, and being able to consistently write about my life can be very grounding. Write a sentence. Write a paragraph. Write an emoji. Just. Write. Something. That’s my main idea.

The goal:

Being able to help others organize their thoughts and create small routines that help them become the best versions of themselves. I really want to create a user experience that becomes a seamless part of a person’s daily routine.

I will be sharing updates on this project throughout the course of this year. I am very open to ideas and suggestions for making this a real thing. Thank you :)
