In’s & Out’s— January 2024

A short list of things that I’m liking and getting ready to move on from each month.

Sunlight & cozy homes ❤

For the past 2-ish years, I’ve been writing articles each month where I round up my monthly favorites over a lot of different categories like food, places & random things. It’s been a really nice way for me to reflect on my month and has given me a concrete way to look back on the year as a whole. Over the past few months, I haven’t been looking forward to writing the monthly favorites articles and I’m hoping to change that by trying out a different format: in’s & out’s lists. This trend was popular towards the end of the year and loosely stems from The Clique book series (that I was very obsessed with in middle school).

In

  • Being vulnerable with my feelings with my friends & family
  • Spaghetti w/butter, lemon & basil (I ate this simple meal a few too many times this month)
  • Making charm bracelets with your friends @ brooklyn charm
  • daylist feature on spotify
  • spontaneous work trips 😃
  • lil pops of red 🔴
  • cozy hangs with friends (if ramen is included in these hangs that is even better!!)

Out

  • Routines that aren’t serving me anymore
  • Not working out (my two — now going on three week workout hiatus is getting to me)
  • Being sick 🤕 please body no more sickness for the next few months!!
  • Harsh inner monologues that do not benefit me (it’s time for my inner voice to be nice to myself #revolutionary)
  • Getting almost-pickpocketed on a crowded Madrid subway line
  • Un-walkable cities and ugly buildings (we need more cities like Toledo and Madrid!)
  • 2 weeks without sunlight

Reflections

I’m feeling a little bit more rested and recharged for the year. Overall, I’m excited and hopeful. I don’t know what this year has in store for me, but I’m feeling very lucky in this current moment. I always miss my dad a little bit extra in these months and I want to stay connected to that feeling. Cheers to a good 2024 ❤

Pretty cities & making charm bracelets!!
