Flowers & pottery

Spring has OFFICIALLY SPRUNG!! And I can smell summer around the corner. I don’t know where this year has gone but every year seems to be going by quicker than the last. April was stressful. I felt very busy and in my head the whole month. I got to go on a wonderful trip to Ireland with my brother and enjoyed a lot of lovely days doing pottery and going on walks in New York. At the end of the month, a very busy period of my life finally came to an end and I felt so much relief and joy. I’ve been working really hard for a really long time and am now getting to enjoy the hard work that I’ve put in. The rest of the year is still uncertain, but I’m feeling grateful for right now.

In

  • all my rage by sabaa tahir — I haven’t read a book this fast in so long. It was the perfect young adult book about love, grief, the immigrant struggle, and much more. I inhaled it in 3 sittings.
  • We are in the era of buying cake for no reason and it is my favorite era. If you haven’t tried the berry chantilly cake from whole foods yet, go do that right now. Tres leches from Wegmans is also a fan favorite :)
  • The Irish country side featuring…Guinness. I felt so at peace in Ireland. A very unexpectedly wonderful trip filled with cows and friendly people. I want to go back!
  • Photo albums are better than instagram. I finally got around to compiling all of my film photos into a photo album and it brought me so much dopamine.
  • Sometimes, hard work does pay off! This past year has been a lot of work and I’ve been tired but I think I am finally getting recognized for that work and it makes me happy.
  • If you can find laksa paste and mix it with mayo, it makes for an incredibly yummy spread on toast with some tomato and a fried egg!
  • Getting back into running has been really nice and a good way for me to clear my head.
  • I am wisterical aka in hysteria about wisteria, the plant. It’s such a beautiful plant that seems to cascade off of the most beautiful New York apartments.

Out

  • Trying to control things out of my control — when will I ever learn this lesson? With the technology we have, we seem to have control over a lot of things in our lives. However, we really dont, and sometimes we need to let go of things because they weigh us down!
  • Having a lot of stuff. I had a big month of spring cleaning and it felt good to throw out stuff that I haven’t used in a while.
  • Oatmeal :( I used to eat oatmeal every day for over 3 years and now I am so over it.
  • Being tired!!!!!! I want to stop being tired. It’s time for me to start going to bed early because that is what my body wants.
  • Putting off purchases that make life easier. The way I put off getting an extra charger for 6 months and now that I have one, my life is so much easier.
  • Back to back travel is just too much. I’m ready to sit still and feel the warmth of summer from one spot.

Reflections

April felt like a concluding month of a chapter of my life. It marks 3 years of being in New York, which is pretty wild! I’ve grown and changed in so many ways over these past few years and it is exciting to see that the hard work I’ve put in is paying off. This month has felt stressful and heavy with the current political climate. I am hoping things get better in the upcoming months. Color me excited for the summer :)
