Wine & Paint Night @home

Don’t get me wrong, I love a classic dinner, drinks, movie and walk kind of date, but here are a couple of more “unique” dates I’ve been on that I’ve really enjoyed. Obviously, you don’t need a significant other to do these things, I would actually enjoy doing most of these things by myself. I just wanted to make a list in case anyone was looking for some inspiration for fun things to do.

Running a 5k, Workout Class, Hiking (athletic things).

This might not be for everyone but I’ve really enjoyed this category of dates. I like it because you get to spend time with someone but also get a good workout in and get the endorphins flowing. Hikes are probably at the top of this list just because you can enjoy some good views and good conversation while being outside!

Warren Anatomical Museum

This is a strangely specific one but this small exhibit in Boston is really interesting but also very weird. I had so much fun here but also I know this is not up everyone’s alley. Other “weird” museums I’ve enjoyed include the Met Cloisters and the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York.

Laser Floyd Light Show

Another Boston specific date but this light show at the Museum of Science is so fun. I don’t think I’ve ever been to anything like this but the seats are super comfy and it is way more exciting than any movie date you’ll ever go on.

Holiday Pops Concert

I LOVE holiday pops concerts. I think it’s so fun to dress up and hear some live festive music. The shows are always packed and have fun takes on classic holiday music. I have a special place in my heart for the Boston Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops concert ❤

DIY Wine & Paint Night

I’ve never been to a wine & paint class in person but it’s so easy to buy a couple of canvases from Blick and some paints and paintbrushes and get to work. It’s a fun date and nice when you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

Barcade and/or a Pinball Museum

I love a good barcade. It’s always a good vibe in there and it’s fun to play the games separately and together. Barcades are usually fairly casual and allow for conversation and competition which I always enjoy.

Comedy Show

This is probably not that unique of a date but I recently had a lot of fun at a New York Comedy show. They are also usually not too expensive and I think they are worth it.

Bookstore Hopping

I looooove a good bookstore hopping date. I also love when it’s mixed in with an antique or thrift store shopping experience. Bookstores, especially used bookstores are so fun to explore. They are also some of my favorite dates if it is raining out. The vibes are immaculate.

Grocery Shopping & Cooking

Cooking at home is a fairly common date idea, but I really love the grocery shopping part too. I would recommend going on a less busy day of the week but it’s fun to explore the grocery store and make food puns lol.

Stratego, Gamepigeon, and other Virtual Games

Unfortunately, this pandemic has pushed me to go on a lot of virtual dates. I love online stratego and gamepigeon. Once, I did a fun virtual date where we both facetimed and drew things together. That was really fun.

There are probably more that I can’t remember. I’ll update the list if I do remember. Hopefully these have inspired you!
